Primary Assistant Teacher Recruitment Exam on January 9 Shifted to Afternoon

The schedule for the Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Recruitment Exam 2025 has been changed. The written exam, originally scheduled to be held on the morning of 9 January 2026 (Friday), will now take place in the afternoon. This updated information was announced today (4 January) in an official notice issued by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

According to the notice, instead of 10:00 AM, the written examination will now be held from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The exam will be conducted simultaneously in all districts except the three hill districts.

Reason for the Time Change

Sources from the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) have confirmed that the exam on 2 January was postponed due to national mourning following the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The rescheduled exam was fixed for 9 January. However, to ensure administrative coordination and to make the exam more convenient for candidates, the exam time was shifted from morning to afternoon. DPE Director General Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman confirmed the adjustment.

This year, the number of applicants is significantly higher compared to available positions. For a total of 14,385 vacant posts, 1,080,080 candidates have applied in two phases. This means, on average, 75 candidates will compete for each post.

Even though the exam will be held in the afternoon, all pre-announced strict security measures and instructions from the DPE will remain unchanged.
